patterns + shapes: ice

ice with snow by Berndt S

.............

in the world of annual delights, the opening of the rideau canal here in ottawa is, in my opinion, one of our capital's finest yearly traditions.

so here's to the canal opening yesterday + the world's largest skating rink that weaves through our lovely lovely winter wonderland of a city.

isn't ice a magical thing?

have a beautiful weekend, lovelies.

  1. Oh I miss that so much. We are from Ottawa, but are now living in Winnipeg. I miss the canal, it used to be our winter tradition to go skating on it and eating delicious beaver tails while drinking a hot cup of hot chocolate. Enjoy!

  4. Absolutely gorgeous! Ice is so fascinating...the cold never changes, but the formations do. How incredible is that? Why does it change...and how many different forms can it take. Does ice have no limit?
