{hand}making change: helping japan

gosh. what is there we can say to help with the emmense tragedy of the events in japan this past week?!

very little i'm thinking.

but i do think there are things we can DO to HELP, in our own ways.

handmaking for the cause is one of them. 

supporting handmaking causes donating to relief efforts is another.

kudos to the many great handmakers who have rushed to the helping effort, donating monies (in part or in whole) from handmade items to support various causes assisting the relief efforts in japan. 

please ADD links below to items you have made, 

or that OTHERS have made,  

where a portion of the sale is going toward 

Japan relief efforts.

i will also tweet as many of the entries as i can to help spread the word.

today is my wonderful mommy's birthday.

she's the kindest, most generous, most loving, most thoughtful person i know and i'm so lucky to have her in my life every day.

it's been a really really difficult year for my mom.

thru it all she continues to teach me grace under fire, generosity in difficult days & how kindness, patience and a thankful heart can get each of us thru those dark dark times. 

thank you, mommy rikrak.

happy happy birthday and here's to wonderful things ahead. i love you so much.

tough decisions come our way sometimes, don't they sweeties?

closing my handmade shop for a while was one of them.

so many of you have kindly asked & written me about it and so i just wanted to say thank you, and that yes, for a while my rikrak shop is going to be closed.

gosh ...  it's hard to put a stop to something i've worked like crazy to build momentum for, but i'm a firm believer that life's twisty and swurvy paths bring amazing things our way. i know it's so.

i needed to free up some precious time to be really really present in other parts of life. my wonderful mommy's not doing so well, so i ask for you to send good wishes in the wind her way, nicies.

how are you finding balance these days?

got some great strategies you use?

thanks for helping me out with it all, sweeties.

and someday {hopefully soon} the rikrak shop will be back in full swing.
