  1. I would like to nominate:
    item: Schroedinger's Disappearing Cat Linocut
    by: minouette (me!)
why: I think this print is an innovative design because its behaviour tells the story. The print itself shows the popular and amazing metaphor for the weirdness of quantum mechanics: if there were a cat in a box with a poison triggered by a radioactive decay, the state of the cat would be underfined (dead or alive or in between?) until we looked at it. Since the poison and cat are printed in thermochromic ink, they disappear if the print gets hot! So, whether Schroedinger's cat is there or not depends on when you look (just as in the metaphor). So, it's art and science and interactive behaviour all in one.

  2. I would like to nominate:
the item: DIY light-up embroidery kit - Ursa Minor / Little Dipper
    by: Polymath http://www.etsy.com/shop/Polymath (not me)
why: Because it's a lovely and elegant way of mixing the resurgence of interest in traditional needlework, with contemporary electronics - plus it's based on constellations. Everyone loves the stars. Fit for beginner sewers with no electronics experience - definitely innovative.

:: who made it - courtney schutz from 'a little glass box'

:: why you're nominating it for this specific event - I just love how fun and whimsical, yes simple and versatile her design and idea is. I've purchased 2 already for a nursery and front entrance and they look great in both!

  5. I’d like to nominate this Cat Nose fine silver pendant design from RockMyWorldInc .etsy.com.
    http://www.etsy.com/listing/64201871/cat-nose-necklace-jewelry-in-sterling

It’s one of those designs that you would never think would make a cool design until you actual see it made. I would totally wear this, not only because I’m crazy about my cats but it’s such an interesting subject matter that I’m sure it would be a be a conversation starter wherever I went.

  6. I’d like to nominate this ceramic knitting bowl from MaidofClay.etsy.com (that’s me!)
    http://www.etsy.com/listing/95962316/white-cat-yarn-bowl-sculpted-kitty

This yarn bowl takes the nemesis of neatly rolled yarn, the cat, and makes it part of the design. I was inspired by the string holders from the 40’s and 50’s for this design. The yarn can be fed through the opening of the mouth or through the “tail” slot on the back of the bowl. I call these yarn bowls “Knitty Kitties”.

I follow this blog AND I'm also follow you on Twitter.

  36. My aim is to get everyone creating keepsake Art one fingerprint at a time!

I would like to nominate my FingerTips Guest Art. Especially my Chick Party.

    http://fingertipsdesigns.co.uk/#/chick-party/4559850372

Not only will you have an amazing and unique masterpiece but also a great activity for people of all ages which will be sure to get everyone talking! All designs are custom made to your requirements. You will be sure to treasure your chosen FingerTips Design for years to come!

    The Concept Behind FingerTips

From an early age I have always enjoyed Art and my relationship with Art has always been a healthy one. I realised early on in my life, while trying to cope with my dyslexia, that Art was a language in its' own right and a way I could be heard while trying to figure out the baffling English language! A creative mind is not a linear one.

Let’s go back to basics....with our finger...no I have not gone mad you can really create refined Art with your fingerprint. In fact it is what our company FingerTips concept is based on!

I have created many designs and products where the recipient’s fingerprint brings the Artwork to life. The finished Artwork is a keepsake in it's own right.

FingerTips is a tool for people to reconnect, in a positive way, with Art and have fun in the process. Once you have seen the amazing Art you can create with your fingerprint in a simple but effective way hopefully you will have gained some faith and confidence in your ability too create!

FingerTips Designs are suitable for all ages and abilities.
