I love this too much-what a wonderful/creative way to support, connect & promote our handmade community! I am going to nominate my favorite Canadian site (rikrack is 2nd!) Poppytalk http://poppytalk.blogspot.com/ Jan & Earl do a simply amazing job of inspiring and sharing the huge diversity of handmade artists.
ReplyDeleteNow that the selflessness is out of the way I am also nominating my site Oh My! Handmade Goodness (http://www.ohmyhandmade.com) I am the editor of OMHG but it is truly a collaborative effort. We now have over 20 monthly contributors including industry experts, craft superstars and small business owners. We post daily about what we know and love-handmade for children lots of tutorials, small business tips, free downloads & handmade finds. I would love the chance to get our site & our online community/contributors more exposure!
ReplyDeleteI tweeted the #handmadeolympics to OMHG followers-I hope everyone enters and spreads the love!
ReplyDeleteOK, I must put my vote in for the Oh My Handmade blog too!! So choc-full of juicy + creative nuggets of info!!
ReplyDeleteI would like to please go out on a limb and nominate my blog, Domestic, But Not Martha (www.domesticbutnotmartha.com) I began the blog in November 2010 and have since featured over 20 handmade shops and have many more features on the way. I have a *true love* for Handmade shops and helping others achieve their dreams by featuring them, hosting giveaways, and giving my honest opinion on their items as well as personally referring them to others. Lots of guest posts, DIY tutorials, etc scheduled to be posting during 2011! This blog has already been such a blessing to me, I'd love to keep it growing!
ReplyDeleteDOMESTIC BUT NOT MARTHA is truly the most inspiring blog i've come across. ReplyDeleteI'd like to nominate Tatertots and Jello (http://tatertotsandjello.blogspot.com/) as a great source of handmade inspiration.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to posting tons of her own craft projects, Jen also invites super-talented folks around the blogosphere to share their decorating and diy ideas.
I love looking at all the wrap up parties, too, because there's always a wealth of creative ideas to browse there. :)
Now, I'd like to be a little biased and nominate my own passion - IndieSpotting! (http://www.indiespotting.com)
ReplyDeleteI've been featuring handmade artists and their work for two years now, as well as craft projects, free printables, handmade giveaways, seasonal handmade gift guides and much more.
I'm all about the passion behind the handmade movement – from the people who make a living from the goods they sell, to the consumer who appreciates the value and quality of an item made with skill and care, to the crafty person who simply enjoys the feelings of satisfaction that come from making something with his or her own two hands.
I've shared info about this awesome event on our Facebook page!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.facebook.com/IndieSpotting
And have tweeted #handmadeolympics to @IndieSpotting followers on Twitter!
Good luck everyone! :D
I'd like to second the nomination for IndieSpotting! It's such a great blog for people who appreciate handmade and you can tell that spreading the word and promoting the handmade community is really important to them. I love their craft posts too (have you seen how cute the Valentine's Day ideas are?) Not to mention the site is just gorgeous to look at. Definitely a source of daily inspiration for me!
ReplyDeleteThat being said, can't wait to check out some of these other nominees soon!
I'm also a fan of IndieSpotting - have been for a while now. I've discovered so many Etsy shops and fun handmade stuff there I would never have found otherwise. Erika is definitely a cheerleader for small biz, plus she's really sweet to talk to!
