My nomination for an Eco Friendly goodie is anything at foundbynicki.etsy.com As her site says: "Down to the zippers and thread, all materials used in ‘found’ products have been reused, recycled, or rediscovered in some way. So much stuff already exists in the world that is just begging to be reborn into new and wonderful life. Many of the buttons on ‘found’ things actually come from the antique collection my dad left behind."

Nicki "draws" with leather (as on this guitar wallet http://www.etsy.com/listing/63020635/old-guitar-repurposed-leather-wallet?ref=pr_shop or this amazing leather tote: http://www.etsy.com/listing/60527535/sale-leaves-under-green-leather-tote)

I'm the proud owner of this design - a "wet" Fall leaf pouch: http://www.etsy.com/transaction/38555213)

If I can only nominate one item it'll be the tote: http://www.etsy.com/listing/60527535/sale-leaves-under-green-leather-tote - representative of the innovative, eye-catching designs Nicki is so great at creating. Thanks for the opportunity to share her work!

I'd like to nominate one of my own 'up-cycled' creations: My 'Sweet Sweater Pumpkins'! I designed them from the scraps of old sweater arms back in 2007, and have shared them on my blog each fall since - which has inspired countless others to create them, too! I sell them through our business, 'Retreat', at vintage shows (everything we make is from reclaimed materials).

My 'Sweet Sweater Pumpkins' are featured on my personal blog at: http://hummadeedledee.blogspot.com/2009/09/sweet-sweater-pumpkin-time.html (and other posts) Thank you for your consideration!

Deb Kennedy said...

I'd also like to nominate a joint project created by my husband and I for our business, 'Retreat'. He salvaged a baby grand piano carcass and rebuilt it - as a BAR! When he was done, I covered it with vintage piano player music (appropriate, yes?!) and vintage sheet music. The resulting 'Piano Bar' debuted at Farm Chicks in 2009 to rave reviews and went viral on blogs. She's a one of a kind work of art, and the star of our living room now!

View her here: http://retreatdesign.blogspot.com/2010/01/retreats-collaged-piano-bar.html
