good golly!
isn't escaping to another world in a book just the loveliest thing?!
of course i was fascinated to hear which book characters all of you lovelies out there longed to be in our younger years!

what a fabulous cast of characters we have at our slumber parties! we'd make for a most entertaining bunch of young ladies, wouldn't you agree? { and based on some of our faves, get in a heap of mischief, too! }

....................................

the most popular response was certainly lovelies longing to be laura from the little house on the prairie books. seems like those pioneer adventures (and pigtail braids!) had janet, rox, ilena & candied fabrics enamoured!

....................................

another fave was the jane austen protagonist elizabeth bennet. and that dreamy mr.darcy would be yours: vadjutka, artmind & freckles!

....................................

a favourite i had forgotten about was pepper sprout designs & denny's fave: that precocious pippi longstocking. (more great pigtails, too!)

....................................

harriet the spy was karamae's fave. i always love a good sleuth, too, karamae!

....................................

and just to make sure our slumber party mysteries had enough sleuths, jessica & little gray pixel longed to be nancy drew. *sigh* me too, nicies. me too!
...................................

leslie dreamed of being one of those wonderful adventurers from swiss family robinson
(oh to live in a tree house!)

...................................

and wendi wished to be abandoned on an island ... alone! like the character in Island of the Blue Dolphin. how adventurous!

...................................

archaeology-loving plushroom soup adored her dad's vintage hardcover happy Hollister books, complete with wormholes! love it!ster

...................................

and marian dreamt of being in a kaye gibbons book.
...................................

elan vital anthology wished to be one of those fabulous bohemian elves from the elf quest series

...................................

and another long time fave was the spirited anne shirley from anne of green gables. oh ness & elliven - isn't she fabulous? and then you could have gilbert blythe all to your selves!

*swoon*

...................................

see you tomorrow, cuties (for the start of 7 days/7eco giveaways!)

thanks to all the rest of you who left fabulous answers, too!
and to all the anne shirley's, laura ingalls wilder's, nancy drew's and elizabeth bennett's out there - thanks for making reading such a fabulous adventure!

  2. Thanks for mentioning me here! This was a fun trip down memory lane. I STILL love to read. What a great escape and visit to other "worlds." Now I still love mysteries. I belong to a book club and we just read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but it was fun to read, and talk about ESCAPE!

    K--Thanks for doing this!

  6. I'd forgotten about Harriet the Spy! I loved her.

Thanks for the mention. The fabulous thing about living where I do is I'm right beside all those beautiful stately homes in all my favorite books and I can wander around my 'Pemberley' and imagine I'm Lizzie.
