.................................
cue ear to ear smiles.
cue the loveliest of feelings deep inside your soul!
this is, indeed, how i feel about judit of vadjutka's beautiful eco friendly textile jewelry work: whole heartedly, entirely, smitten!
the beautiful shop vadjutka has quickly become one of my very favourites in the whole wide world. the endless appeal of judit's gorgeous sustainable work: her brilliant use of colour, the beautiful textures she weaves together, her most gorgeous & inspiring photos, and her love of giving new life to tiny scraps of traditional fabrics ( you know how i LOVE scraps!) combine to make it, i would say, just the loveliest of places to visit.
and now... how marvelously lucky we are... you can WIN one of her latest works! woohoo!
first: be sure to visit the wonderful vadjutka shop, where every unique piece of jewelry certainly does have it's own wonderful personality! you'll also want to catch up with her wonderful wit and charm on her beautiful blog, and thru her tweets and facebook updates. and how about subscribing to her lovely monthly newsletter here! and i know you, too, will be SMITTEN!
now... let's see what judit's collecting!
who (are you) : Judit Wild, and my shop is vadjutka
what (are you collecting) : I collect vintage and modern glasses from around the world
when (did you start) : Approximately 10 years ago.
how (many do you have?): Somewhere around 25; I never know precisely.
where (do you find them) : I have two main sources: fleamarkets in the countries I visit – for example I have bottles from Greece, Macau, Austria, Turkey - and the fleamarket in Budapest, Hungary where I live.
where (do you keep them) : They are all around my flat: mostly on my bookshelf.
what (‘s a crazy/interesting story behind one) : Actually the very first piece of the collection is from my late boyfriend: I kept only this blue siphon-bottle of his.
what (piece would you like to add): My favourites are the art deco glasses, and I’d love to have one from France. And some more perfume glasses from China and Japan.
why (do you love them) : I love glass because it is clean, and I love to watch the light going through colored glasses.
which (one is your favourite) & why : My favourite is a little red and orange colored parfume bottle, that I bought in Macau. I love its colors and its clean-cut shape, but also, that it reminds me of that journey.
what (else do you collect) : National and tribal jewelry, but I dont have that many yet.
....................................
and now... you can win a vadjutka original eco necklace!
woohoo! it features traditional Hungarian tapestries, beautiful, colourful fabric remnants and wow - is just gorgeous!
woohoo! it features traditional Hungarian tapestries, beautiful, colourful fabric remnants and wow - is just gorgeous!
judit writes about this beautiful necklace: In this necklace you will find a hand embroidered pattern, which is an element in one of Hungary's embroidery traditions: the Kalocsa embroidery. (Kalocsa is a town, known also for its tasty paprika powder.) I incorporated this traditional pattern into a modern findings that resulted - well, in my view - in an exciting mixture of colors, patterns and forms, and showing us, that traditions can be modernized. More about Kalocsa embroidery: http://www.kalocsaembroidery.com/

brilliant, judit!
and i love the way you modernize traditions in such a beautiful,
meaningful way.

I guess a way of modernizing something is that I have a blog, my mother used to fill notebook after notebook of random notes and paper cutouts... now I do kind of the same, only in blogs.
ReplyDeleteAnd I blogged about the giveaway

My favorite item in her shop is the Abstract I can fly necklace - I love the colors and the inspiration behind it!
ReplyDeleteI am a happy follower of the rikrak studio blog!
ReplyDeleteI love the picnic framed necklace! It looks like summer! Her shop is truly gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love her Starry Night - necklace made of fabric and brass filigrees on brass chain
ReplyDeleteasia19-9[at]o2.pl
I love the clever uses of fabric in Judit's work. Thank you for the giveaway -- the necklace is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI also like Wheel of Life necklace. It's the combination of the elements that makes it stand out for me. Very special.

I'm a bookmmaker, and enjoy incorporating vintage fabrics into my books. Sometimes that means making bookcloth from a favorite fabric for a book cover; sometimes it's handstitching a small piece of cloth onto a paper cover or page. Always, it helps add to the "handmade" nature of the book.
ReplyDeleteClara
What a fabulous shop and giveaway! I looked around in the shop and my FAVORITE item is the Bird in Heaven - necklace made of fabric and brass filigree on brass chain! I love the colors, bird on fabric, the beautiful beads and flowers! It's soo beautiful! Thanks for a chance at winning!

Something I've modernized is the Hand Embroidered Tea Towel. Many people walk by the patterns at the store and think that they're just for older folks. But I think they make the best kitchen towels. I find the patterns at antique stores and make new beauties... just add some rikrack on the edges!

ReplyDeletemy eco tip:
ReplyDeleteOur kids are the adults of tommorow, it's important we learn them to become eco minded adults :-)
I try to learn my children to be careful with the use of water, not spoiling their food, I try not to preach to them, but try to explain lots of things, for example why we prefer to bike to school or why we turn off the lights in rooms we don't use....

Just about everything in my home is moderninzed. My boyfriend and I live in his grandmother's 150-year-old farmhouse and much of the furniture and appliances have been here for at least 50 years. We use her old chamberpot as a planter, and the old radio is now a really cool shelf.

I don't know if this counts as modernizing, but I love using vintage dishes every day. Ever since I was a little girl I've wanted a Fiestaware collection, and I even saved my Betty Crocker points all through my teen years so I'd be ready! (alas, BC has discontinued that program) So now I have hundreds of fiesta pieces to pick and choose from every day!

ReplyDelete+1 my eco tips would be GET INVOLVED^^ try by doing a little first then upgrade yourself to a more effective involvement.
by little I mean, saving water, turning off unneccessary electricity, recycle, don't use plastic, bring your 'green' bag when going to grocery store, etc.
then a more effective involvement would be environmental organization or an environmental publication to find one that's right for you.
