greatest hits: with soapylove

what inspires you artistically & creatively? what would those inspirations look like visually? in this fun series, (please see the others here) ... i’ve invited some wonderful artists to share with us 4 images of inspiration in their artistic life, something of an interview in images! the guidelines were basically this: choose 4 visuals (something like your creative-stimuli *greatest hits!*) that you feel most inspires & expresses your art or craft today. for some, it might be a person, place or thing; a material; a pattern; a colour; a sound or song, etc. it might be a photograph, a drawing, a scan, etc. i’ve tried to leave it a bit open-ended so that we might better glimpse into these artists' motivations and their amazing, raw talent! today i’m delighted to present the next in the series : greatest hits with Soapylove!

woowee!
the instant i LOOKED at soapylove's amazing work i longed to be her colourful-loving-friend & i just knew we were kindred spirits {skipping happily through colour-iffic candy-coated daydream worlds!} spending a few moments browsing her gorgeous online shop a few years ago! wow!

her beautiful, design-savvy, delicious soapy creations are the stuff of vivid sugary-dreams and i just adore her beautiful creative aesthetic!

so i was excited to ask Debbie, the colourful-handmaking-soap-guru known as Soapylove, as a gold medal winner of our *handmade olympics* (remember her amazing event 1: fave innovative design winner: that fabulous typographic soap?! wow!) to share with us a little glimpse into what inspires her as a creative powerhouse! i've always adored her works, and her new line of boxed soaps are just .... WOW!

so get ready for the palette-of-springtime and , in her own words, soapyloves' greatest hits!

#1: Delicious colorful desserts
because they tap into some of the most uncomplicated emotions we have - glee and excitement! I try to capture these feelings with my soaps using fun colors and scents inspired by sweets and candy.

#2: Things that are painfully cute
like this adorable plaid fawn because anything that makes my heart leap in my chest gets my creative juices flowing!

#3 Design
using color and a quirky style because I believe that life shouldn't be stuffy or serious!

#4: KIDS
are a huge inspiration because their obsession with playing and having fun is a something that adults should never lose in themselves. If I can create something that reminds people how they felt as a kid, then that would be a very exciting achievement!

It was a lot of fun looking for images that represent my inspirations. Thanks for letting me squeeze in a pic of my kids (and their sweet buddies!).
