on turning one {+ a giveaway!}

hokey dinah!
it's been a year.

one year ago today i nervously wrote my very first little blog post ... ever.
it was one of my 2009 new year's resolutions... to write a few public posts to garner up some confidence with sharing my writing.

i was so nervous.
i was so nervous that i actually worked on the first post for 5 days, mulling it over, changing and editing it.
i was so nervous i didn't even tell anyone (except mr. rikrak!) in non-cyber world about my blog for 2 months! :)

the first post, january 7th, 2009

but thanks to you, thanks to all of you lovelies and nicies and encouragers out there, i was slowly able to gain some writerly confidence, and now here we are... one year later!

  2. Ooo, what wouldn't I love to make with those amazing fabric? I make womens wallets in my Etsy shop, so naturally I'd have to make a couple of those. I want to try to make a patchwork fabric tote sometime, too.

  4. Confidence is always a struggle - especially for me now being a recent grad and unemployed. All the same, I'm really confident in who I am. Life isn't about the accomplishments you can put on paper, but the people you help and love and I think I do that well.

  5. I follow your blog and love every post :)

  38. I really should follow your blog; right now I have you set up as a shortcut from my desktop. I was over earlier to enter giveaways, but didn't have the time to do too many of them....when you list your sponsors on the side where we are to visit and find something we like..takes too long :( But I come back to see what great stuff you are giving away!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'd add some to a glorified ninepatch project that has been going on for several years. I've got all the parts made and cut; now it's to sew those curves!!!! I can always add an extra row...I made my blocks with repros, so these will play nicely! Tea wallets have been another gift idea I've been using and these will fit the bill nicely with their deep colors.

  40. I felt good getting some non fun sewing done in the last week....a new liner for one daughter's wool peacoat, and a new zipper installed on another daughter's coat. the liner had me stressed. I am not a seamstress; I just fudged all the way along...it is ok...not perfect but wearable. I told DD she has to wear it another 10 years to get my time out of it!!!! Now, hubby wants patches on his work jeans :( I hate knee patches :( I need encouragement to get it done so I can start a new quilt for a granddaughter due in April.

I try to use mainly thrifted and vintage cotton fabrics in my sewing so use any opportunity to add to my stash as it's not always easy to find. 156. Well, I'm moderately a little bit confident that I'm going to do great in my new job. But to keep with a crafty theme, I'm thankful that you can build skill and confidence in things like sewing and knitting by making a slightly more complex project each time. So you're getting results in the midst of learning.

  180. Your blog is fabuloso! It's hard to pick one thing I like most - honestly, there's a lot of greatness going on here. I suppose what I like best are the labels on the side, which link you to posts of a kind - what a clean, orderly, concise idea! And the posts of a kind are truly interesting@
