I nominate Julie of Joy's Hope. She has done some incredible things with her Etsy shop and blog-motivating others to donate handmade and spending hours crafting to raise money for others. She is truly the most unselfish crafty lady around. Some of her recent projects have been the Cora Playground Fund, which she headed up to raise money for a young family who had lost their almost 1 year old daughter and just last month she got a project started that raised enough money for 2 wells to be build in Africa!! She is remarkable-I have no idea how she finds the time!!

I'd like to nominate Spike Dennis for his one man 'Secret Mission' to cheer up my hometown; Cardiff >>
ReplyDeletehttp://spikes-secret.blogspot.com/
He has been anonymously depositing plush toys around the city for over a year according to his blog and although his mission might not be the most world changing it's a brilliant example of the ways in which we could all spend just a bit of time to bring more smiles to the world through a little handmade kindness.
I would like to nominate Inger from ingermaaike.etsy.com, because she initated a superlovely game in the European Street Team on Etsy.

I nominate Kerry at Penny Dog. Her products are fantastic and a favourite with lots of people, especially me. With every piece sold a £1 goes to the Retired Greyhound Trust. A great charity and I know it will be close to her heart as she owns 2 greyhounds herself.
ReplyDeleteHere is her blog:

Etsy's Storque Series "Crativism" is great because it shows how crafter's are helping out in their communities! http://www.etsy.com/storque/craftivism/
ReplyDeleteI would like to nominate Elsie Flannigan of Red VElvet Art. Not only is she constantly sharing her gift, giving freebies in her online classes, she recently auctioned off this painting for Haiti Relief Efforts:
ReplyDeletehttp://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/01/painting-auction-for-haiti-relief.html
It's beautiful and it went for a few hundred dollars for Haiti Relief!
I have to say this seems to be the group that most impressed me in light of the recent events in Haiti.

All of her profits are donated to charity, plus she makes just lovely jewelry and is a great inspiration to the JET team!
I'd like to nominate Etsy Project Embrace, a coalition of artists whose main purpose is to create awareness and support for people who have been diagnosed with cancer. Our inspiration is Laura Slocum, a fellow Etsian who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Members donate a portion of their sales to the American Cancer Society. The group is also a support system for so many lives touched in some way by cancer.

I love reading about Lucy's colorful world in Attic 24. Her photos and snippets of her life are always uplifting, even when she's not having a great day. Her blog conveys the belief that it's the little things in life that really count, and she often shares recipes, craft ideas, and peaceful moments.
