this just takes my breath away. 

honestly, i GASPED when i saw this image (thanks to *making it fun*)

oh how i would have LOVED to have seen this exhibition in person....

from the private collection of joanna rose, the american folk art museum show: infinite variety: three centuries of red and white quilts showcased 651 gorgeous gorgeous colour blocked quilts! kudos to the amazing handmakers that created each beautiful quilt and to the show curators for the brilliant show space design!

we have a cherished red & white quilt at the rikrak home.

handmade years ago by mr. rikrak's wonderful quilting grandma, it's used with love on a daily basis. i

just love the contrast of a two-tone quilt.

photo essay: the winter trees we see

psst: i've got a monochromatic secret.

i'm in love with the soft brown plant-detritus that peeks out in the bleak midwinter landscape. in between snowcarpets, there is that gorgeous wheat-huedness that languishes on the backroads of our drives home here. 

i love it.

 one particular roadtrip a week or so ago and the light was that perfect flat january-in-the-north tone where everything looked grey and taupe and white. i love that.

i know the solace of such days is the foe of some. but that leafless tree stillness inspires me.

so from the passenger seat: a few snapshots of the trees we see.

let’s face it. i’m obsessed with colours. how ‘ bout you? colours on their own. certain colour combos. colours colours colours. hope you’ll enjoy this fun new series, featuring various colour combos, (and my obsessions wth them!)... i could never choose just one fave… so stay tuned for others! here’s the first: orange, with a dash of white

I’ve had this new series written for a little while now, but when i noticed on etsy that today is happy Koninginnedag day (with such a great orangey front page earlier!) ...well…today’s the day!

gosh. i adore the colour orange.

it’s warmth and funness and clarity. and pair it with a little white? wow. so crisp and clean and .. wow!

we have a LOT of orange&white-ness in our home. we all just kinda love it.

and everything to do with rikrak? orange & white

and I love working with orange&white fabrics (sorry – you don’t get to see many in the shop – I keep them all, obsessively!)
