....................................
well with the glamourous golden globes behind us & the ever-eventful academy awards ahead ... i thought today we'd see which film role YOU'D love to play.
have a magical movie character that you dream to star as?
here are my 3, cuties.
..............
michelle yeoh as yu shu-lien
.........
how about me as Yu Shu-lien in crouching tiger, hidden dragon?! action packed movie, beautiful scenery, great love story. i'm in! i loved michelle yeoh's spirited portrayal of this heroine and just think of all those fun flying-thru-the air scenes!
..........

julie andrews as maria von trapp

..........
next... me as maria von trapp in the movie: the sound of music
i've dreamed of being this character since i was a wee little singer-around-the-house-er.

i mean ... twirling in the alps.
singing around austria.
making a whole family of outfits out of curtains?!
kissing young christopher plummer.
that's a role i'd REALLY like! :)

..........

 jennifer ehle as elizabeth bennet
..................
my final dream character to be:
elizabeth bennet in pride & prejudice.
she's delightful & admirable.
and just to seal the deal ... three words ...
courting mr. darcy.

:)

*sigh*

..................

okay! so i've confessed!
there are my choices for top 3 film roles i'd love to play!
now... let's snuggle into our cozy sleeping bags, open another bag of sour cream & onion chips, crank up the *pretty in pink* movie soundtrack, giggle & whisper and hear yours! can't wait!

slumber party { part 10 } : who are your top 3 celebrity dates for the academy awards?

....................................

don't you just love a slumber party? comfy pjs, silly movies, telling your friends, old & new, your thoughts & crushes & dreams.... such fun! join us! you can catchup with some of our other slumber party fun here: and for today's party question: who are your celebrity dates for the academy awards this weekend?

....................................

here is it that time of year again. readying my gowns. (tune in tomorrow for YOUR amazing handmade oscar ensemble reveals!) ....
practicing my acceptance speech...
teasing my hair (sadly it's not the 80's anymore... ) trying to walk in heels (gosh - that isn't going to happen...) and now... who will i choose as my dates? hard choices, i know. but somebody has to do it! okay ... here are my top 3 celebrity dates for the academy awards on sunday.

.................. george clooney - TIFF '09: fun photo by Kim Yokota

*sigh*
i think george clooney would, for certain, have to be one of my dates.
1st - i love that smile.

2nd - he just seems fun + funny, doesn't he? i love that in a date.
3rd - he's always such a great activist = supercute in my eyes!

4th - i think he'd be the funnest to walk the red carpet & sit with during the show.
you know - funny quips, smiley nods to celebrity pals, etc.
oh, and fun to kiss when he wins!
5th - did i mention that smile? i blush just thinking of it!
sounds logical, right?
i'm all about rational, logical oscar dating!

..................................
*swoon*
now.. if i wasn't married. and if president obama wasn't married, :)
i think he'd be a delightfully fantastic and interesting date.
i actually think a real live talking date would be the most fascinating
with brilliant & knowledgeable him.
but i'll take a paparazzi-filled-glitz-n'-glamour date with me on his arm if i have to!
............................
and 3rd, hugh jackman. gosh - that SMILE!
hopefully
, he won't turn into a wolverine and instead we can dance the night away at all the afterparties.
i gotta say... a fun guy who can sing and dance?
great date!
........................

okay! so i've confessed!

there are my choices for top 3 celebrities to take as my date to the academy awards!
now... let's snuggle into our cozy sleeping bags, open another bag of sour cream & onion chips, crank up the depeche mode, giggle & whisper and hear yours!

slumber party {part 8}: your craziest new year's resolutions over the years

....................................

don't you just love a slumber party? comfy pjs, silly movies, telling your friends, old & new, your thoughts & crushes & dreams.... such fun! join us! you can catchup with some of our other slumber party fun here: and for today's party question: what are your silliest, craziest new year's resolutions over the years?
....................................

new year's resolution print by bluebicicletta

i love a new year!
the newness and starting fresh.
and i love making plans for trying new things + setting new goals.

but i must admit...
often times the same sorts of ones appear. and sometimes i make some crazy resolutions.

so i thought today we'd share our silliest (in retrospect) resolutions! (don't be shy... we've all made them!)

..........

lay's potato chips screenprint by brittanypowell

in my early 20's i decided one new year's to give up potato chips as a resolution. now ... it was a toughie for me(as i totally loved (or perhaps better said, *was obsessed with* potato chips!).. now we all know that as obsessions go, that's not a great one. right?

so i did pretty well for a little while. i willfully bypassed the chip aisle at the grocery store. said a firm *no* to chips calling me from the vending machines at work! until one day in mid-february when at a little party i took just one. well, let's just say that was the end of it. but in optimistic news, i've come to have slightly more potato-chippy control now! *sigh*
i think i can.
i think i can.

...................

vintage looking chair & damask boxed set of stationery by dawn correspondence

now i adore a hand-written letter. so another year i decided, whole-heartedly, to write a real-mail letter every day to someone. i love writing real-mail letters. so this was a fun one. but by mid-march i began frantically writing ever-so-brief post-cards in bulk just to meet my quota
{i'm recalling

"love you,
-k."

as a real low-point in that project!}

i became SUPER stressed about meeting my goal. and let's be honest.. it wasn't fun anymore. so soon i reverted back to trying to write a letter when i could, perhaps not always as frequently as i'd like. and i resolved never to resolve like that again! :) and to this day sitting in a sunny window writing a little handmade note or letter is one of my fave things!

so perhaps what i've learned from these silly examples is that for me, all things in moderation might be a better resolution!
how 'bout you?

i still make resolutions every new year's day, and to be honest, resolutions throughout the year whenever i feel like it! i'm all for resolving newness whenever we need it in our lives, regardless of the calendar! just this morning i resolved to keep my fabric shelves in better order. eek! i'll let you know how that one goes. at least they'll look good today!

..........

okay! so i've confessed!

so there are my choices for my craziest new year's resolutions! now... let's snuggle into our cozy sleeping bags, open another bag of sour cream & onion chips, crank up the cyndi lauper cassette, giggle & whisper and hear yours!

where would you travel to?
where would you go?
if you could go anywhere.

mine would be a 2 year trip around the world with my little family.
of course. that's a given. but without that... where have you always longed to travel to and see and explore? or where have you been that you'd love to see more of? i'm pretty lucky that i've already been to quite a few of the places i've always dreamed of seeing. but the list remains long of where to see next!

here are my top 3 places i dream to visit:

the rikrak slumber party { part 2 } : top 3 things you wanted to be when you were very young

....................................

don't you just love a slumber party? comfy pjs, silly movies, telling your friends, old & new, your thoughts & crushes & dreams.... such fun! so i thought i'd invite you to a new series on the rikrak studio blog... the rikrak slumber party. last time, we talked *secret tv crushes!* .... so come on over... here's the next question :: the top 3 things you wanted to be when you were very young ::
....................................

the lovelies @ fawn & forest asked me this question a little bit ago, and i just love hearing nicies answers to it! while i think my hubby's answer might be the funniest i've ever heard (he REALLY wanted to be a train when he was little. yes. a train. ) .... they're often pretty fun, aren't they?

so my top 3 things i wanted to be when i was little are:

1. an old-school telephone switchboard operator
from the early 1900's. all of those cool cords and switches. getting to talk on the phone all day seemed like a dream job! *sigh* it just looked like so much fun! i was pretty crushed when i found out that technology had become obsolete. alas...

2. the prime minister of canada.
i wanted to be this one for a very long time. i did end up moving to ottawa, so that's pretty close.

3. a spy.
in my mind, a spy hid behind corners, wore fun ball gowns all of the time and went to fancy galas and the like. what a life! ahhhh... spying...

so there's my top 3.
let's snuggle into our cozy sleeping bags, open another bag of sour cream & onion chips,
turn on some cyndi lauper, giggle & whisper and hear yours!
