in her own words: "My ever-evolving Road Trip Mix is my favourite playlist to work on. It’s always changing depending on season, destination, and reason for getting out of town. It has to start off chill for when you coast out of your driveway, then it has to pick up the pace to something exciting once you hit the highway. It has to cover plenty of genres and ages so that your ‘Trip Co-pilot’ will be like “hun? I would have never thought those ditties could mix so well together”. You also have to throw in some songs that you know really well, along with some not-so-well-known-gems to keep things interesting. It’s a definite must to have a guilty pleasure tucked in there (Yes, Gowan!). Oh and if it’s a really good mix, then it’ll end on the perfect song that you just want to blare out of the car speakers once you’ve hit your destination. That’s my idea of a great Road Trip Mix."

ReplyDeletePlaying any of Sigur Ros' albums adds so much mystery and intensity to the outside world when on a road trip. It's a CD we always bring along.
ReplyDeleteYay for the "Many Mixers" napkins! I like these because I keep promising myself I'll be a better homemaker and these mixers have the nostalgia of back in the day with women in aprons and heels...not that I want to be one of those...but whatever, aren't they great?!

ReplyDeleteI love the Hermes Birkin napkins because I used to work for the Hermes board on Madison Avenue and the napkins bring back happy memories! We had a set on our wedding list but no-one picked them, so I would love to win something by Avril, I think she is an amazing designer.
ReplyDeleteThis blog post has totally increased my admiration for Avril as well - we share very similar musical taste! Seventeen is one of my favourite ever songs, because it's still the age where I had most fun. Because of the song, I made seventeen my lucky number, and by coincidence, the year I was seventeen was the year I got to see Hole perform Violet live, as well, so there's a connection for you.
I recently DJ'ed my own wedding, and we used our playlist as the soundtrack to our roadtrip honeymoon, driving across the Pacific Northwest. Our first dance was to Sebastien Tellier, and his track Divine, which later made for a great theme tune against a backdrop of pine and hilly terrain.
Ahhhh, good times!
the squeeze me pillow, i fell in love with it the minute i saw it because it's so creative
