greening.... i find it exciting and hopeful that while there sure are lots of terrible things going on to pollute our planet, there are so many wonderful folks doing fabulous things to help make the world a greener, healthier place! so, the rikrak studio is happy to feature great green-ies : snapshots of amazing, inspiring. eco-forward-thinking folks from all sorts of fields and paths in the greening movement. some inspire by greening at home, or in their business; in their art or the larger world, or on many levels at once! i've asked each green-ie to suggest an easy eco-idea or tip we might all be able to add to our daily lives. today i'm honoured to present the next in this series!turning vintage silk scraps or old photo negatives into beautiful, elegant earrings! repurposing leather or vintage buttons into stunning rings! oh the magic of repurposing! as tomatedepingles says it best: "what could be more eco.chic?!"
today's great green-ie is tomatedepingles, a fabulous design duo, made up of the two sister superstars, Guylaine & Isabelle. we first met early on in my etsy-ing, thru the TransCanada Etsy Team, and i was a fast fan! i just adore their amazing designs, commitment to things eco-forward, and great sense of style & flare! i'm honoured to have come to know guylaine thru the past couple of years - and what a sweetie she is!

and now... an eco.tip from tomatedepingles:
All Purpose Bug Spray
Two tablespoons of hot pepper or cayenne or chopped garlic
Two drops of liquid soap
Two cups of water (room temperature)
I put all of the ingredients in a spray bottle, and I let it stand for a day (it removes all the chemicals the city puts in the water, like chlorine and such)
Shake well before spraying! Avoid eye contact, and pet contact
