the handmade olympics celebration!

welcome to the 2011 handmade olympics medal party celebrations!!

so glad you could all attend! what a fabulous month and a half of handmaking amazingness it's been!

while you're taking your seats... i've just a few words i'd like to share!
(what olympic event would be complete without a speech?!)

cheers to everyone who nominated, cheered on and encouraged others in handmaking, as part of the 2nd annual *handmade olympics!*

over 12000 individual votes were cast (i *think* that might be more then voted in our last election! :) {you nicies should run for office the way you've inspired grassroots cheering like this! amazing!}

and how fun is that our medalists are from all around the world!? i love the global spirit of handmaking!

ah, how i LOVE the handmade community! your enthusiasm was inspiring! the events were created in the hopes of celebrating handmade, and what a celebration you all helped to create!

congrats to ALL of the fabulous nominees, the amazing folks shortlisted for each event, and now, to our medalists!

thanks to everyone who played.
hope it encouraged you, at the very least, to get your wonderful work out there, and to cheer on others in our lovely handmaking village! whether you played, voted, created or cheered, i think we all play a great part in building our amazing handmaking community, together!

indeed, most of all, let's take a cue from those *other* olympic athletic competitors to achieve our own handmaking bests... dream big, weather the ups & downs, keep trying, surround yourself with great, encouraging folks, and most of all... believe in your self, your creations, and your fabulous work!

in the event of two nominees coming within one vote of each other, i awarded a tie. ;) i look forward to featuring some of our fabulous medalists in the upcoming months. and i especially look forward to continuing to cheer on the handmade community!

personally, i've found myself a whole bevy of amazing new artists to adore, and happily rediscovered many faves! and thanks to the many of you who have told me you've loved them, too!

thanks for being so gosh-darn great.

i have a bunch of overdue thanks to send out today.
first off... 
thanks to all of you. all of you who kindly read the blog, leave fun comments, play along and inspire me with your wise ideas and encouragements! you're the best, nicies!

sometime last week i hit 2000 google friend followers on the blog. woohoo! along with all you lovely *rss*feed-ers, email subscribers & other followers - that's such a thrilling #! thanks ever-so-much sweeties! it's a joy to know you're all here with me on the blog each day!

next up ... i'd like to say a BIG thanks to all of those nicies who feature my works so kindly in their beautiful treasuries on etsy! i very much appreciate you including my goodies! i think that is no doubt one of the most important/lucky things that has helped my business to grow to where it is today. i'm so thankful for that!

and a special shout out to those seen here below, who included me in treasuries that went to the front page on Etsy way way back in november (i somehow missed thanking you all!)  many thanks to:

thirdly (not a word, right? no worries!) .... thanks to the dear lovelies around the blogosphere:  i kinda don't know where to begin with all the thanks for the literally hundred-or-so  kind blog features of my rikrak eco stockings this past autumn & winter. to each of you who so kindly wrote about, blogged about, featured my work ... eternal thanks. it was an AMAZINGLY successful season of production and so much of that is due to the generosity of kind folks sharing my work with the world. so to the big sites, the growing blogs, the brand new nicies: many many thanks. the handmade community and our ability to cheer on one another is a fabulous thing indeed!

you folks are so sweet! i mean it!
thanks for your daily fun comments (i read each and every one... and usually go clicking along your links to visit your fun wepages & sites! what talented readers the rikrakstudio has! :)

....what fun blogging is! now... i'm really bad @ being tagged, and passing tags along. that's always been the case! but i very much appreciate all the sweeties who have honoured me with fun web awards... so it's high time i say thanks! in lieu of tagging forward, i hope you don't mind that i'd like to feature these sweeties instead!
